i've read all i have about the problems with the Z. people trading in their cars left and right...people having such ass experience with dealers... notable problems: tire feathering, tranny keeps popping out of gear, severe oil consumption (some cases where it was a as much as 2 quarts in 1000 miles!!), etc. this really was my first choice as i wasn't as pumped to get an IS or spyder...oh well...

Z's didn't do too well in terms of reliability. I'm glad you've finally seen the light at the end of the tunnel.

I was thinking of getting a z but I would rather get the G35. But I'm gonna wait and see how much I can save up in the 6 months after I finally pay off my car (6/14 last payment) and I might get a BMW or a Benz instead.

Didn't the 05 versions fix these problems? Also can someone post a complete list of all the problems? And can't modding fix most of these problems (getting better, smaller tires for example)

The majority of people don't mod; it costs more than the average driver is willing to spend.

so ur saying 350z suck in terms of reliability?
Ask yourself one question. Is the juice worth the squeeze?

^^Actually, I messed up. Not reliability. The Z suffered from a lot of teething issues.

Yeah but since I'm thinking of modding the car either way do you think it would be smart to buy a used 03 (I think it's the one with the biggest problems, since I think thats when they started) if I'm going to mod it out for drifting and/or racing anyways?

i can agree on the tranny thing or something related if the g35 and z share the same tranny...then here's what i experienced from a fast 1-2 shift, the stupid thing would grind, i could not hit it fast or it would do this and not fully engage it was queer and a half...that's also coming from a used car.

I think a lot of the problems have gotten fixed with the 05's, but have heard horror stories about the 03's. People say you shouldn't buy the first year a car is produced because they haven't gotten all the kinks out yet. I think the Z would be a good example. My mom has an 04 that she lets me drive all the time and so far it's been solid. I thought I felt something off with the gears once, but it hasn't occured ever since that one time, so who knows.
