so i just bought a 12" rockford fosgate punch sub with box from a buddy at work for 25 bucks. He used it for about 2 months before he sold it to me, but now i need an amp...He said he ran 400 watts to the one sub when he used it before, so which amp should i get? I know nothing about amps so any help is appreciated.

it depends how much you want to spend and how much juice you want pumpin to those subs.. if you got some money id say go either clarion or audiobahn

haha no... those are cheaper subs and easy to be blown or broke. Go for a cheaper rockford amp. Or something smaller around the 400 watt range.

Most important thing is the power handling of the sub. What is the peak power of the sub? Get an amp that matches the peak power of the sub to get maximum performance.

Not much peak power handling. 400 watts peak. Really low for subs especially from Rockford Fosgate. Sorry if you take it as bad news.
