I've seen other cars with these... especially your more exotic cars with the heavier hoods... but I think it also can be done on the Celica as it SEEMS as though it'd be a simple job.

Does anyone know where I might be able to obtain gas-struts that would be good to use for the hood on the Celica? It's not that I'm lazy, but it would make life a little more easier when working under the hood to not worry about that metal bar giving out and having it come & crash on me.

I briefly remember coming across a site one time that sold gas-strut kits for the hood of cars, but I don't remember if it was universal or just for a specific car.

Does anyone either know a site that has a kit for hood gas-struts (similar to those on the trunk), or just struts altogether that can be used for the hood?

those are nice, my friend 3000gt has them, idk if it was stock, but instead of worrying about that metal bar, you gotta worry about shocks going out spineyes

Just thought I'd throw this out there...

I don't know what your goals are for mods, racing, etc, but adding gas struts will add unneccesary weight. Granted, not much, but if you're into fast times, it'll only make the cause tougher.

Sorry I can't be of help as far as providing you with a location for purchase.

I'm more or less into "All-Show-No-Go" type of a fix-up for my car. Considering I really had no choice but to get automatic anyway, I'd rather have it look nice & a few extra pounds is ok by me since the only time I floor it is when I'm highway driving, but I don't actually race.

Someone out there has to make 'em either for the Celica or universally to fit any car with minimal modifications.

try checkers pepboys or someplace like that i bet you can find something that'll work. Might take a little custom work but if it was easy they would've done it already

I knew I had seen an advertisement for these in one of my magazines... TEIN!! TEIN makes gas struts for hoods. I haven't looked to see if they make a kit for the Celica, but look into TEIN. Saw it in Sport Compact Car

Nevermind... just looked and they don't have one for our car. Plus, you can't have an aftermarket hood. I guess the lighter Carbon Fiber hood would just explode open.
