ok i didnt know what exactly to name the thread ... but what i wanted to ask was is it possible to increase the pull of the car at low rpms ?? especially while starting ... coz i found that the start is really really bad ... almost anycar is faster than mine (i've got an auto 00 GTS)

and in the thread about the CAI you guys are referring to CEL .. what does CEL mean ???

I would say first off get a SRI(Short Ram Intake) They are better for low end torque and the CAI(Cool Air Intakes) are better for the high end torque.

I'm gonna take your little Civic. Dust it off. Turn it sideways and stick it straight up you candy A*s.

i thought it was the other way around? shortrams are good for high end (injen) and CAI's for low end (AEM). i can't remember where it is but there's a link somewhere in e-celica that compares the two intakes. injen showed significant loss of power low-end, but only outdid AEM by 1hp at high end. AEM produced more hp/torque throughout the entire rev range.

btw i have an AEM CAI and it's great grin

I think SRI is down low and CAI is higher RPM. But the TPR CAI does both low and high and that is why people are drooling all over it.

Do NOT get the short ram. You lose an incredible amount of power down low. I dont even suggest the aem (aem has better low end than injen) cold air intake because you will still lose a little low end. Especially when its hot out. The trd exhaust doesnt cause you to lose low end or you could also go with the tpr exhaust. If your wanting an intake, go with tpr. I hear it doesnt hurt your low end. Sorry but there is not much you can do to help. That why I got a supercharger but unless you have over 4000 bucks lying around thats out.

[b] I've always hear that CAI is better for LowEnd...

there is a big difference between SRI and CAI ...you can say about 2 cars lengths.

I think it is normal for it to idle at 2000 rpm when you just start the car ... it happens to me as well .. and it was the same even on my last car(rav4). And the sound, you get that sound coz ur idling at a higher than normal rpm.

Hey go with the aem intake. It seems to have a pretty good gain.

On another note I see you are from Dubai. UAE? United Arab Emerates? Well if so, in our economics class, we were doing the cost of big macs. We learned your guys country had the cheapest place to buy big macs from mcdonalds. It was something like 63 cents a big mac! Lucky tongue

Your best bet for gaining low end power would be a turbo. A good turbocharger would nearly double the torque that your car produces and therefore give you good pull once you hit boost (depends on the turbo lag). A less expensive option would be a 6-speed swap. The auto-gts has less pull in the low end than an auto-gt, making it the slowest celica you can buy. A 6-speed swap would give you more power and gear control of where the power is. Add a CAI and exhaust to gain some more torque on the low end.

Yes it is normal for you to idle at around 2k when you first start the car. Once it warms up it should idle around 900-1k.

the swap sounds like a good idea ... but how the hell can i get one ??
This place does not have ANY celica's in the market ... so i will have to import one if i need one ... and another thing i wanted to ask is .. will the gt tranny do ?? or will i need a GTS tranny ?? im assuming both use the same tranny.

And about the turbo .. that is a complete no-no coz i will not be able to register my car in this country ... the car will not be registered with almost any mod on it ... even a cat back exhaust that is slightly loud will not be allowed ... its pretty strict out here ...

Another thing ... how hard is it to do the swap ?? i myself was considering it .. coz im not really a fan of Auto's but i dint have much of a choice when i bought it ... it was the only one in my city. And is it specific to the celica ?? coz that will be an issue ... i doubt any of the garages over here know the 00+ celica.

btw ... does the celica run off camry parts ??? i know for sure that the older ones had quite a few camry parts .. which made getting spares pretty easy.
