Is it bad on the clutch to have it in while at a stop light?

I usually just go into neutral and when the light is about to turn green, I have the clutch in and just balance it out till green. I do not think it is bad but why risk stressing out the clutch.
I say, if you know you are going to be waiting on the stop light for a long time, then go to neutral. If it is about to change light or just a reg stop, then have it in, all the way in.

I have never taken my clutch out at a stop light! Did you use an engine sling or a jack to support the block!?

With the length of the stoplights I have to endure at rush hour, I would have time to take out the clutch and do a complete engine swap while I am at it.

If you take your clutch out at a light, and someone is about to rearend you, you're fucked.
I've avoided being rear-ended twice by staying in first at red lights and watching my rear-view mirror. People don't know how to drive.

i heard it's best to just let out the clutch and put it in nuetral. If someone rear-ends me that'll make me a happy camper. INSURANCE CLAIM!!!!

I got rear-ended by some idiot kid last month.. but since im throwing the kit on anyways I didn't wanna make him claim it, he wouldn't have been able to pay for the insurance on his beat up ford tempo. The worst part of it was, some idiot in front of me came to a complete stop infront of a speed bump to talk to his friend, I didn't leave any space because I was assuming he'd keep going, then I check my rear view mirror and see the kid coming too fast, and there was nothing I could do but wait for the bang. If the kid hadn't realized at the last second and turned to try to avoid it, he would have bounced off and there wouldn't have been nearly as much damage. Instead, he scraped off 2 feet of paint from my bumper. Now I always leave space to get out of the way, even at speed bumps.

well if you hold down the clutch pedal at red-lights, your throw-out bearing with wear faster. so I always go to neutral.
however, on the rare occasions I'm in a neighborhood where there's a higher probability of getting car-jacked, I have my car in 1st and clutch in, ready to go. that's just me.
I get my kicks on EC.

Go into neutral. The parts of the clutch will wear down faster if you ride the clutch at stop lights

^^ you would have to be in neutral anyways. if you ride the clutch in gear, you're either going somewhere or about to stall.
