My current system consists of a ppi a600.2 amp, visonik crossover, and diamond m6 subwoofer. i wired the subwoofer to produce 4 ohm impedence overall, and the sub can take the 4 ohm bridged (which i did). however, when i turn on the headunit, power goes to the crossover and amp, but the amp gives me a 'low impedence' light. can anyone give me advice on how to fix this? thanks.

same thing happened to me when i wired up my system with the stock stereo, buy a new deck and you should get the juice into all of the above!

Its not a stock stereo, its an aftermarket headunit.

also, the amplifier is emitting a very high pitched noise...if that means anything.

EDIT: forgot to mention that the subwoofer does not hit, it is clear that it is recieving some frequencies, but makes a rrealllllly wierd sci-fi noise when it does hit. sounds very unhealthy.

How are you bridging the amp? Are you bridging by a switch or bridging at the speaker or through the speaker wires ie at the terminals?

dude that is not healthy. You got to figure out if you got it wired at 4ohm load or if you got it wired at like 1 ohm. Or even lower. Cuz it is prob a 2 ohm speaker. And you could of wired it down to low load or something and about that noice from amp, if it still makes it sound like that if it is wired right then you have to get the ground in side amp fixed. Let us know.

I'm positive i wired it at a 4 ohm load, i bridged the speaker wires at the amplifier terminal...i've had another subwoofer working with the same setup, so i think it might be the amp. how would i check to see if it is the ground inside the amp? thanks

dude
you realise if you wire each to 4 ohm then bridge them it'll go to 1 ohm

i wired each voice coil to have an impedence of 2 ohms = overall of 4 ohms. my amp can do 4 ohms bridged. i bridged the wires and hooked it up to the sub. is that not a 4 ohm load to the amp?

if your speakers are 2 ohm, you need to wire the speakers in series, or you will get a 1 ohm load. if you wire both speakers to the amp, you are wiring them in parallel.

wire from the amp from the positive output of the amp to the pos terminal of a sub, then take a lead from the negative side of the same side and wire it to the positive of the other sub, then wire the negative of the sub back to the negative of the amp.

Connect only one voicecoil of one subwoofer to your amp. If it works it is not your amp. It sounds like you are confusing bridged, series and parrallel. You may be wiring your subs down to 1ohm or less. I'd say re wire your subs...

um not really sure what you got it wired too. But just check rewiring. And for the ground in amp take to shop and ask. And if you have any blown amps let me know interested in buy. Thanks Chad

What you can do is connect the wires that connect to the amp and twist them together so that you have 2 pos. and 2 neg. connected and then bridge the amp and connect the wires and it should produce the sound that you want.

Well if your sub is dual 2 ohm it can be wired into 1 or 4 ohm. Alot of amps wont handle 1 ohm so your best bet is to go 4 ohm. You wont get the max power but it beats it not working. I always get dual 4 ohm subs so I can wire it to 2 ohms. However my 12W7 is a single 3 ohm sub. Kinda different but when used with a JL Amp you get great power.

Try hooking the sub directly to the amp, get the crossover out of there. The PPI should have a crossover button/switch on it. Use the crossover for the highs. I had a ppi a few years ago and had tons of problems with it at 2ohms. It would get hot and shut off because it can only handle a 4 ohm load. Also what is the ohms of the DVC sub. The ohms do not get added together they usually get cut in half with the DVC, get a wiring diagram sent to you from the place you bought it from and go by that.
