I just received my new Wings West body kit and was shocked when I opened the box. The kit was shipped in a box which is about 18" shorter than the side skirts. The side skirts and the front lip were folded in half and strapped in that position to fit in the box. The parts are made out of urethane but this is ridiculous! I don't see any way the kinks will ever come out!

Can somebody who has received the Wings West kit confirm that all the parts come straight and ready to paint and install? I have never purchased urethane parts and want to make sure I'm not missing some magic step that will restore the parts to the way they are supposed to be before returning them.

Thanks for all your comments.

Urethane bends...once you paint it you wont even know it was bent.

^^^^ I heard about WW kits coming shipped folded, but I alsways thought that after you unfold them they should be fine, but I guess you have to do something before you can paint it and shit.

A bend like that looks like it'll ruin the kit. I can't see one way to get the kit to look right without super heating it and reshaping it back to normal. get your money back.

I remember someone saying you just unfold them and let them sit for a day or 2 and then go back to the original shape.

Thanks Kim,

I don't want to name the retailer quite yet. I'll give them a chance to make it right before trashing them. This is one of those deals where I bought from a well known retailer who didn't have it in stock and apparently got a different distributor to ship it. It came from an entirely different place from where I bought it. I will be contacting them tomorrow for a return unless I can be convinced this is the way is supposed to ship. One of the reasons we picked the Wings West kit was because of the ease of installation. This does not look easy to straighten out. I think the parts are ruined.

regardless of the material..no kit should come to you in that kind of shape..if they can't even afford to get a big enough box, then it ain't worth buying from them..call them and get your money back..

That is horrible. My ww kit came in the original WW box and it was wrapped in bubbles and not bent in any way.

Oh, man, I'm cringing as I look at that bent part!!! I have a Wings West complete body kit on my car, but it wasn't bent anything like that. I'd say get your money back or exchange it for a properly shipped one. Give Wings West a call or email to see if they can suggest anything for you.

let it sit in the sun for a day or two, it should unfold the rest of the way and be fine. I bought a urethane blitz front bumper that came folded in a circle type package and after letting it sit it was fine... hope it works out for you thumbsup

that is horrible.

mine came in a pretty big box for just a lip kit. my box was pretty direct from wingswest and had the wingswest logo and address printed on the side of the box. everything was UNfolded and ready to mount.

the condition that they shipped it is really bullshit.

thumbsdown

When I got my polyurethane vizage kit back from the painter, all the parts were twisted. To get them straight again, I put them on the floor with books and whatever to bend them back to their original shape. Then I used some heating fans for about 1 hour on them (while books and whatnot kept the pressure on), and then let them cool off (still with books).

When I removed all the stuff that kept pressure on them, they kept that shape (straight).

So: straighten them out, apply heat, and let them cool off. Worked for me atleast.

Guess what everybody,

I contacted WW and they said that it is not uncommon to ship the urethane kits folded. They recommended laying out in the sun for a day and that would straighten everything out. Well, they were right! smile Everything looks just about perfect now.

I still think it was BS to ship it the way they did, but its fine now.

Thanks for all your input,

Dave
