im installing a set of Infinity reference component speakers into my doors. its a 00 gts and im using the stock head unit. now normally you just have a + & - wire for each door speaker, these wires get hooked up to the cross over(on component speakers) which in turn splits the mid and high also amp if you choose, but the gts has 3 speakers in each door so there are 6 wires in all. in the picture below, i have taken out the woofer and the mid speakers. the 2 sets of wires you see belong to them (blue set mid, red/black set woofer). now my question is what wires do you hook up to the cross over? better yet if you have a component system how exactly did you wire it. even if you use a different speakers then stock what wires did you use and how does it sound?

here is the picture...

you have a gts so you likely have a factory amp, that needs to be bypassed.

your best bet is to get a aftermarket headunit and wire that to your component set and other speakers, bypassing the amp. otherwise, i don't know what the wiring color chart is for a gts amp. but it appears that the amp splits the signals into high, mid, low.

that little battery type thing is most likely a passive crossover for the tweeter.

I can't give you any more help than that, sorry.

the "battery" is the crossover, if you put a full range speaker to that lead it will play, so you could actually run another speaker off of it. i just got an infinity set that has its own crossover, so i will have an empty plug laugh

I had an aftermarket amp and deck and I just bypassed the stock amp. I was actually impressed by the stock speakers. Great setup for stock.

I tried to use the wires from the stock 6inch subwoofer to power the crossover-speakers and it sounded like crap. Then I just did not use the crossover with my speakers and it sounded better. Just wire your mid speaker to the plug from the stock 6inch woofer and wire your tweeter to the plug from the stock tweeter. Dont even bother using the infinity crossover. It will sound decent for now until you get a new deck. The stock amp will be the crossover and will only put highs though the tweeter so it should not blow. I had my speakers wired like this for a few weeks and it worked good and I had no problems
