Sorry so long, but this is screwed up!

I took my 2002 GTS in for a service call. All the items were covered under warranty. I painstakingly trouble shot everything the day before. When the guy at the service Dept. asked what was wrong, I told him in technical terms, then in semi technical terms after he gave blank looks.

I told him I had intermittent power loss between 6K and 8K RPM. I also informed him about the TSB on the lift bolt. He replied that there was no way for him to check it. I said: "sure there is! Just drop it in 1st gear and then floor it!" He said abruptly that they were not going to ruin the engine. There was no way they were going to over rev that engine between 6 and 8K RPMs. I informed him that redline was 8K RPM!!! He said there was no SB issued on the car. slap

I took him to the vehicle and pointed out the cause and evidence of the other failed parts. After I pointed these problems, he consoled with a mechanic and ordered parts and came back with a magical TSB that didn't exist!!!

Two weeks later I get a call that my parts are in, I arrived that next afternoon (today). The same dude told me that there was no loner car because I did not buy the Celica there!!!!!!!!!!!! angry

I call the friendly 1-800- GO TOYOTA and spoke with a customer service rep. that transferred me to a corporate relations person. He assured me that I would get a loaner, and that I even had 2 more months on my warranty!!! YEAH!!!! yourock (I thought it ran out this month) He took all the information down and gave me an event number.

This dealership is a FORD dealership that started selling Toyotas on the side.

Here is my question!! Would you take the car to another Toyota shop? (The closest one is 70 Miles away) OR make them fix it? angry

I would call the dealership that's 70 miles away and talk with one of their mechanics and see what they say. If they sound like they know what they are doing then take it there. Otherwise take it to the one that is close. If they don't fix it correctly they still have to fix it later on because the issue was brought to their attention before the warranty expired - it'll just be an ongoing "my problem still isn't fixed."(them)/"but I've brought it to you 4 times!"(you).

^^^^Definitely. They'll have to fix it one way or another. Good luck man. Keep us posted. thumbsup
