If you wouldn't own a celica, and really want to get one, but your budget is ONLY $10k, what car would you get?
A. Celica w/High mileage 85k+< | Clean title B. Celica w/ Low mileage 45k-> | Salvage title
Besides this poll, random answers to the question are welcome

Wow. I have been asking my friends this(I don't have a car yet, or even my license, just thinking about what to get when I get a job)
Probably a 300zx, unfortunatly they only look good in red(in my opinion) and then insurance is more.

yeah i think you want to change wouldn't own a celica to didn't own a celica. for your question though it takes a good bit of damage for it to be considered totalled and now only buying the car but you would spends thousands in repairs so your really just stuck with buying the high milage one. hopefully just highway miles and if it was maintained well its not a biggy. toyota engines run forever. but like ther others said i would spends that 10 grand elsewhere. maybe an FD if i could find one for that low. a beater car and a nice street bike

If you are tight on a budget DONT GET A 300ZX. I just sold mine after years of drainage to my pocket. You have to keep in mind that it is a 10-15 year old and everything eventually needs to get replaced. It is a very complex car with a huge engine in a small car. Very expensive to work on and parts are rare and expensive. I bought 1 for 6000 a few years back and then got taken buy one mechanic for 3500 and then paid another mechanic 1300 to actually fix the problem. Then had to replace exhaust pieces, starter, alternator, lifters, springs, and the list could go on and on. After all this the engine ws junk and I put a new one in. Cost of engine with 35K 1800, cost to replace timing belt and all other misc. parts before I dropped it in close to 2000. So all in all if you want a car that all your money will go into to keep the thing running then get an older model sports car. If you want a car that you can spend all of your money on making it go faster then get a toyota or honda. Cheap for parts and easy to work on.

For 10K, you can get an 2000 GT easy. I see them floating around my area for about $8-9 with 50-60K miles on them.
But if not a Celica, I would prolly get... Integra...and hope to god it is not going to get stolen.

Some suggestions, spend only 75% of your budget and keep the rest for mods or maintenance. If you don't mind two seaters, MKII MR2T is nice. Working on it is a bitch though. If you don't like working on your car, don't get an FD.

I only spent 11k on my celi initially...so it's not far off... BUT I would probably pick up a cheap integra and mod it like crazy...OR a 2nd gen. eclipse and mod that like crazy. Celi's can still be mad fun to drive even without engine mods though...so they are far superior

Go with a DSM of any kid cheap and easy to make fast and very good engines.
Talon, Laser, or Eclipse

i got my 2000 gt w/43000 miles on it. it was lowered 2" had 18" rims, new tires and old tires and rims, aem cold air intake, tinted windows, and carbon fiber dash trim. for $8500. if that ain't a steal then i don't know what is. it was a physician's assistants car and he told me he had too many vehicles and needed some money for a house so he sold my car and a 2003 gts. so if you look hard enough then you shouldn't have a problem.

(I dunno how much that costs cause we do everything oursleves) Grand total: $6000 for a Celica GTS 6 speed with 25,000 miles (loaded)... r-title or not that's one hell of a deal... oh and lets not forget... since i bought a parts car i will make some of that $6000 back by selling parts... you can't beat that...

yeah i definately did get lucky on that car... i actually prayed for that celica because it was at an auction in maryland that dad doesn't even go to... but we found a way to get it so it's kinda like my gift from God.. that's really strange that they didn't total yours... dad said they total them automaticly if the airbags are blown or if the frame is bent... maybe it depends on the insurance company that's strange... but yeah that's the only way my car could've been totalled... because otherwise it shouldn't have been... my dad laughed when he saw the car in person...

the best is older cars from like the 80s that run about 2 grand to buy, paint, labor and oem parts cost just as much as if it were a new car, so it doesnt take much to total them. lets say a cracked taillight and a dunt in the rear lol thats what happen to my 86 rx7
