is it possible to swap a gts tranny to a gt motor for a reasonable price?

what are the pros and cons?

would you get better gas mileage and would the tach (rpm and redline) stay the same?

thanks! thumbsup

I don't know if it's possible, but changing out the tranny would just change your gearing since you'll add a 6th gear. Gas mileage and RPM is engine dependant, so changing to a GTS tranny (if possible) would not change the gasmileage or redline.

well it would change the fuel efficientcey while cruising at like 70 or 80 wouldnt it? cause with the gt in 5th gear at 80 mph...i am doing like 4k rpm...if i had a 6th gear to i would be doing much less...wouldnt that save gas?

Yah, its possible. Automatic or standard tranny's? Different things involved in each. A used tranny will run you about $1000 at the scrap yard. I got lucky & picked one up with only 23,000 miles on it. thumbsup

honestly i think the GTS tranny would give a slower (is it slower?) response to the GT motor. arent the 5-speed and 6-speed transmissions tuned with different ratios?

what about getting a euro GT 6-speed tranny? thumbsup

Ratios are so close, it won't make any diff. I would expect it may improve a GT's quarter times by a little. Having more gears is always an advantage because it lets you stay in the top end of the engine RPMS.
