I'm talking about that nasty F'ing dead spot to the left of 2nd gear on the GTS six speed transmission, that happens if you go from 1st to second to aggressively or quickly.

So from the following thread and several others It's been determined that a custom shift gate like the one in the below picture is extremely difficult, if not impossible to manufacture.

But what about one that just incorporated the area circled in yellow, without the areas X'ed out in red? Anyone think this would help to stop the shifter from hitting that dead spot?

I have never hit that dead spot going to 2nd and I shift pretty fast at times. Don't you just pull the knob back to go to 2nd? No need to move the shifter to the left more. You really gotta pull pretty damn hard towards your left to hit that dead spot.

I don't have a problem with 1st-2nd, but sometimes I miss the shift from 2nd-3rd when in lift and everthing is happening so much faster. I push the stick fast and on occasion will hit the left edge of the gate and hang up just long enough to mess me up angry. I'm sure further practice will help, the snow has been off the roads for just a few weeks here and I'm a new Celi owner thumbsup

^ Agreed, practice would help.

I've never hit it during daily driving, though when it dose happen is when things get intense and start happening quickly, say during a Civic flyby sneak attack.

^^^that's just the adrenaline rush..u need to cool down and don't let urself get ahead of you..when you do, ur hand just don't go with ur head..after driving for a period of time, you action is automatic..just like shifting 1 to 2 to 3 etc...but when you get the adrenaline rush, you start to think more about ur shifting and racing..ur putting ur automatic action out of place, so you get into that dead space...that's just like you miss shift and you grind the f*ck out of ur clutch..that's what i think is happening...just cool down and ur shift will be good..no more dead space.. thumbsup

Thanks, sound advice. Thats amongst the main reasons I hang around here; to learn from those that know more than I do, and once in while try an help those that might not yet know as much.
