What is the fastest that the Toyota Celica's 7th Generation can go?
This applies to all models... what is the maximum achievable speed that the Celica can go. - GT Automatic - GT Standard - GTS Automatic - GTS Standard
Either from personal experience or known fact... what's the fastest the car can go... and like a lot of the American cars, is there any 'governor' in the car that prevents it from going any faster?
Personaly on my old 2000 Celica GT Automatic, I got only it up to 113mph max on a level straight-a-way & didn't seem to want to go any faster.

fastest i got to in my 03 GTS Auto is 129mph flat ground(tech speed, which we all know it's inaccurate...)
it is still gaining speed (slowly), but the road is not long enough.

i hit 155 the other day on the highway (not advised) but i HAD to test out my newly built engine. i had a custom stroker kit made, and higher compression pistons 12.9 and nitrous, and exhaust cut out, and short ram intake. that was aparently my engine can take 125 shot of juice

I got up to 133, according to my speedometer in my 2000 GT manual on the 101 Ventura Freeway by Santa Barbara, slowed down when I saw headlights pulling onto the highway from an offramp, and got a speeding ticket from CA Highway Patrol for going 85 mph.

based on the gear ratio in 5th gear for a GT, and on stock rims and tires that max speed is 137.5 mph... add bigger wheels and you can go faster a little bit... but not much...

That is if there was no friction & air resistance. Its not the gearing or the diameter of the tire that determines the top speed, its wind resistance & horsepower or the lack there of. You cannot calculate the top speed, there are too many variables to consider.

i'm saying that with ANY power and any wind resistance the fastest you can go with a 5 speed GT with stock gearing, wheels/tires, and redline is 137.5... you cannot go any faster because the car will hit fuel cutoff...
topspeed can be calculated, aerodynamics doesnt come into play so much because our engines produce enough power to bring us to what the cars actual top speed is given the stock redline and all that junk...

Redline is lower than the fuel cutout by what 400RPM or so. That will put it over 140MPH & no it does not have the horsepower to reach 140MPH. So no, you can't calculate it.
7th Gen Celica's do not reach redline in their respective O/D gears. They run out of horsepower first.

Here's a pic at just over 200kmh look at the rpms...Again, I accept that the spedo is off at that speed, but that's just the numbers I go by. But it climbs REALLY slow at that point. I've hit 220. I'll take a pic next time. I'm putting on my summer rims this week. My stock tires are wearing down and I don't like to go much over 140kmh on them.

140-142mph 6spd gts i cant get it to go any faster, it just sits right there , it wont gain? ill be in lift and it will stop at like 64oo rpm, i think thats were it tops out, or maybe it just cant fight the air past that.

We have a nice downhill slope that runs down and into a nice smooth curve. I've buried the speedo twice now just seeing...Since speedo stops at about 145 or 150 I don't have a damn clue...btw 2000 GT
