If i were to make a custom trunk setup... is it possible to paint wood so it is glossy and nice looking... or would it just be better to wrap it in fabric

I'm doing a enclosure the base is a mdf wood which opens so i have access to my spare then the sides are fiberglass material and what i'm doing is doing a small layer of fiberglass on the mdf and painting it the same color of my car along with the fiberglass enclosure. I'll have pics up when its done

depends on the wood you use, standard MDF if you are good at painting can turn out smooth as a babys ass, just throw on primer/filler, the thick stuff, like 3 coats, sand it with 600/800, 4-5 coats of paint, 3 coats of clear, and that bitch will be shiny as hell
