Well my 2000 celica GT is starting to look its age, all old and haggered as of late but not too terribly bad, with a good detail and a wax she'll look great again. But the freaking sunroof has gone to hell yet again (yes this is the second one) and I'm not buying a new one this time around. A vinyl overlay is out of the question because it will look cheap and cheesy.

So I went ahead and pulled that bastard apart seperating the acrylic from the metal frame. First I removed the outer seal from around it and ended up destroying it in the process then I had to use a blow torch on the metal side to soften up the urethane adhesive sandwiching the two parts together.

I stripped, sanded and shot the acrylic top 040 super white at my buddys body shop and am now awaiting my new seal to arrive to reassemble it.

I'll post pics of the completed project for sure but if anyone wants other pics (like a how to deal) post up smile

I am fixing the rust under the rubber seal/trim on my 2000 Celica GTS. When you put the rubber seal back on what sealent/adhesive did you use? What parts did you put the sealent/adhesive on to, glass, middle channel, bottom lip of the metal subframe? Mine is glued on all three, but someone told me the rubber seal needs to be glued to the middle channel only, not to the top glass panel or the bottom subframe lip. Thanks.
