Warranty Information Applicable Warranty*: This repair is covered under the Toyota Basic Warranty. This warranty is in effect for 36 months or 36,000 miles, whichever occurs first, from the vehicle's in-service date. * Warranty application is limited to correction of a problem based upon a customer's specific complaint.
Repair Procedure Flowchart: Repair Procedure:
A. Check Clearance Between Left Side Door Weatherstrip and Door Glass. 1. Insert a business card between the door glass and the weatherstrip as shown. It the business card falls between the door glass and the weatherstrip, proceed to step B. It it does not, no repair is necessary.
B. Modify Door Frame Width.
1. Lower the door glass.
2. Remove the door mirror base cover (a) (with 1 clip and 2 cover claws).
3. Clamp the door frame using a C-clamp at point P to 1-2 mm.
4. Repeat step A to check clearance between the left side door weatherstrip and door glass.
5. It it passes this test, reassemble the vehicle in the reverse order of disassembly.
6. Continue to step C if it does notpass this test.
C. Adjust Door Glass Fitting. 1. Remove the door trim. Please refer to the 2000 MY Celica Repair Manual pages BO-11 through BO-12.
2. Remove seals (b, c) to expose the up-stop bolts (will be reused).
3. Mark the original position of the up-stop bolts (d, e) using a marker.
4. Loosen the up-stop bolts (d, e). Raise the bolts 1.5 mm and tighten them in this new location.
5. Raise the door glass and close the door. Confirm that the door glass does not interfere with the root drip molding and the roof side weatherstrip.
6. Reinstall seals (b, c).
7. Repeat step A to check the clearance between the left side door weatherstrip and door glass.
8. If it passes this lest, reassemble the vehicle in the reverse order of disassembly.
9. Continue to step D if it does notpass this test.
D. Replacement of Door No.2 Weatherstrip. 1. Lower the door glass.
2. Remove the door mirror (3 bolts and 1 connector).
3. Remove the inner plastic seal (f).
4. Loosen the glass run rail lower bolt (g). NOTE: Do not remove the lower bolt.
5. Remove the glass run rail upper bolt (h).
6. Slide the glass run rail rearward and remove the door weatherstrip (2 plastic clips).
7. Attach a rubber piece to a new door weatherstrip with glue as shown. Clean the mating surfaces before gluing the rubber piece in place.
Rubber piece size: L x W x T 20 mm x 2 mm x 1.5 mm
8. Install the new door weatherstrip (2 clips).
9. Reassemble the vehicle in the reverse order of disassembly. NOTE: Be sure to fasten the bottom of the door weatherstrip between the glass run and door frame.
