I have a few questions, and I'll try not to hit any old chords here.
There is a 92 Celica GTS that I've been looking at, $800. From the sound it's making, I can tell it's got some serious internal issues. Heads I'm guessing. But I could get that, and throw another motor in it, then my dilemma comes up. Should I get it, or wait and get a 7th gen? I love the way all Celicas look, albeit 6th gen. My only concern, is which Celica has the most potential, performance wise? I've been trying to get a Celica for a couple years now, any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Youd probably be better off waiting for a 7th gen. Resale value will hold better and eventually parts will start getting harder to find for older ones.

I had a 90 gt manual that was amazing, but i loved my 7th gen just a little more. You really cant go wrong with one, both the 90 and my current one are daily driven cars and maintenance costs consist of tires and oil changes. Oh and i replaced a battery bracket once.

As far as performace its going to be a toss up on what engine you get. My 90 probably would have killed my 00 in a straight line since it was overall just a little more gutsy and was manual, but on back roads or twisties the new one kills. Granted the 90 had a very rough suspension.

I would recommend pricing any aftermarket parts you want before buying either. And general parts here and there to make sure the long term care is inside of a reasonable budget as well.

Bottom line though if you love it, get it. My personal recommenation falls towards the newer ones, but ive seen some very clean older ones. I just wish more of them had been shipped with AWD here.
