As with nearly everything, never go the cheap route. I have the least ammount of fun money a person can have because of my illness,so you have to do it like this,if you can't afford it now,put an envelope aside to tuck away the money for the part. It is way better to wait, get the right part, and get the proper performance and quality gains from going legit. For intakes,so far there really has not been one better than the AEM cold air intake, tho it does go for about 250 to 275 it is worth it. The r&d they put into it from the bends to the filter placement and the mounting spot for the sensor make it worth every penny. The sound is amazing and it may not get you a lot of initial hp or tq as you free up the breathing part of the engine doing the manifold,header,exhaust...well,the AEM is the best investment for the celica, not to mention it looks great and will hold up for a very long time. A lot of people dont realize how bad you can mess things up creating your own intake tubing set up. Air,also falls into the category of fluid dynamics and without going into the boring stuff, there is a rhyme and reason to the design of the tubing in a proper intake,if you try and create your own and match up your own filters you can really create a lot of turbulence and a very unstble flow which if your sensor is in one of those turbulent or even a void area your ecu will really be goin nuts trying to figure out whats up and as well as having a constant SES light you may create other issues and you will more than likely put together an intake that actually robs hp and tq. So,in the end go for a known company that has put in the r&d to create the proper intake for your engine. In the end you arent really paying as much for the name as you are the time and energy and money the company put into designing it. And please, never buy ebay no name brand parts for your car...please...that is my one wish for all you guys and girls wanting to modify your car. And keep in mind I am the farthest thing from a rich buy telling you this,it took me a while to be able to get my intake but as a guy that has been doing this now for about 19 yrs I have learned the hard way when I started. Another thing, there have been a lot of celicas modded out over the years now,and plenty that have been wrecked or just sold or whatever and a lot of people will keep the intake and some other performance parts and put the factory stuff back on,so keep an eye on ebay and such for used intakes, most times the piping and coupler are fine, you just might have to buy a new cone filter but there are deals to be haon used ones, just Be Patient, and Save Up...learn from us old timers that made the mistakes for you.
