Hi guys, Ive had my Celica for 3 years now and I recently found this awesome site.
anyway, so I was try to change my AC backlight last night, but then when I put back the black frame back I accidentally broke the circuit board, I know the only way to fix it is to buy a new one at a Toyota dealership which will cost me bloody high.

My questions are:
Can I just install an accessory neon lights off from Autozone/Pepboys then just connect it somewhere so it can provide the lights at night? (connecting it to a wire that automatically turns on at night, like AC, Lighter lights)
Please help me, Ive been searching and thinkin of what to do,
the only thing I can think of is the separate accessory neon light, but hopefully theres a way to connect it to a wire that turns on automatically at night, I hope you guys get my question. please please, help me. thank you and more power Celicahobby!

Check this. A similar set up should help you out and shouldn't cost more than a few bucks with autozone parts.

Worst case scenario wire up a new fuse with footwell lighting and dash lighting and have it all hooked up to a switch for night driving.

Hope it helps

Thanks man. Ive seen that write up earlier,
But I am just wondering, when I broke my circuit last time, when I tried to start my car, the clock is totally off at day and night. the radio/music player has no light at daytime but has lights at night. qeustion is are the clock light and radio light are connected to the circuit board? because Ive read some threads here and most of the poeple that broke the circuit board has clock light still and radio light, just the AC lights are off.

please help me! I cant afford the new circuit board and let them install it, itll cost me bloody high.

Im not totally sure. Your clock light may be wired in with it but I dont think your head unit for your stereo is. It requires more power so i'd say its probably on its own set up. If its only lighting up at night its actually just getting brighter with your interior lights, i think. It still plays during the day right? My stereo is aftermarket so its probably wired differently and I cant really diagnose that.

BUT! Check your fuses to make sure everything is still working properly, there's a chance that if your circuit board busted something could have shorted out and fried.

If the board im thinking of is the one that broke it's probably just lighting wires for the center console. I think all of the important parts are deeper in the dash.

Im honestly not a huge electrician, but it sounds like your best bet would be to wire up the neon tube for your AC lights, forget your clock or figure out what wires power it and hook them back up (im pretty sure there are entire electrical maps on this site somewhere), and if your stereo really bugs you take it to a sound shop where they can probably tell you whats wrong in about 5 minutes and how to fix it. OR as a final option go to a scrap yard and just pull the board from a wrecked Celica. Should be pretty easy to get and would probably cost a few bucks at a pull-a-part type place.

I know its a long response but in short, check your fuses, ensure everything else still functions ok, and patch it in a way thats best for you.

i searched around the gallery for a few reference pics and came across this one:

but i was able to also find a price on the full board replacement if that is what you need, instead of just the bulbs:

i believe that the pricing came from #43 in this Toyota retail price sheet:

if you're interested in digging through some technical manuals for anything else which may be helpful, check the repair guides at:
