Hey, So recently my dad just bought me a Celica SX and the thing is that im quite new to Celica's.
It would be awesome if you guys could tell me more about it, such as what year it is and what type of engine does it have and so more! PLEASE!

The SX is the Australian liftback version of the fourth generation (1985/1987AU-1989) Celica ST162 with 3S-GE Twincam engine: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toyota_Celica#Australia

But mine looks like a 7th generation, I said it was an SX because it just says on the tail gate.

Also, if your car is fully stock, look in the driver's side door jam for a sticker that details the month/year manufactured, model, VIN and a few other specs. You could also use that VIN to do a Carfax and find out some history of that specific vehicle. The VIN is also listed in your dashboard, driver's side, towards the bottom, where the dashboard meets the windshield. I'm not sure about Australia, but in North America, Carfax is generally the "go-to" place for vehicle ownership/history.

Another thing you could do, is open the hood and research what is written on the engine plastic covers. For 7th gen Celica, you will probably see either VVT-i or VVTL-i: https://celicahobby.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/43603/What-is-VVTL-i.html

I'm not familiar with the specific naming conventions/variations of Celica sold in Australia, but if I had to do the research, the points I listed above would be where I'd start at.

Thanks alot! Awesome tips, but why does it have a logo "SX" on the back if it's a 7th gen? or is it becuase they took the 4th gen as a modle base for the 7th?
