Ok, so when you're rolling through a road checkpoint, they have signs up that say "dim lights to parking". There isn't a way to dim our headlights at night, is there? The auto on feature turns them on and they cannot be turned off unless daylight breaks. Is there any way to dim the lights without disabling the auto on feature?

u can dim them manually to parking lights, just not all the way off... i believe?

I tried. I turned the knob every which way until I almost twisted it off. The only thing I could manage to do was make them brighter (high beams).

I'm just worried of getting a ticket, which can happen. But I guess I can prove to the officer/court/judge that it's out of my control.

i dont know what features you guys have, but you cannot lower the beam of your light, thats my friend is some really advanced technology id expect to see ona benz or beamer, if you really want to turn off your lights, get rid of drl's.

the sensor automatically turns them on when it's dark enough and once they are activated they stay like that

Yep the only thing you have control of at night is the Fog lights and High Beams, I doubt you will get a ticket and if you do just say that its an automatic thing the car does and its out of your control.

The only way you can have 100% manual control of the lights is to do the disable DRL (driving lights) procedure. Automatic lights is a sucky feature, in my opinion, mostly because of the exact type of situation you're describing. People working on military bases are supposed to shut off their headlights so as not to dazzle the gate guards. You end up with NO DRLs, and 100% manual control of the headlights if you do this.

I know that the auto on feature doesn't come on until you take off the e-brake. I think if you pulled it to the first click, and turn off the ignition and then quickly turn it on, you could theoretically have them off. But then thats a hassle and could be bad for the e-brake.

^^ oh yeah, not to mention your ignition and eveything else.

jsut go get urself a OEM HID housing It has an auto aimer that points your beams down (soposed to be if you have a full cago in the back and jsut you driving. When i used to bring my girlfriend home late i had to aim them down so i didnt wake up her parents Thank god for college now

pull your parking brake up one click with the car off and when you turn it on you have full control over your lights... or just cut the drl wire... makes things easier

Yep that's what I used to do before I disabled my DRl's.

^^^ that seems like a huge hassle its just one wire two pieces of electrical tape and five minutes of time to do the install,

unless you don't wanna cut the wire for some reason

5 minutes? Ive been trying to unhook the connector for about 30 minutes now, the damn thing wont come off


Once thats off then cuting the wire in easy but how do you get the connector off without hurting any of the wires?

Correct if I'm wrong, but I think Toyota dealerships will do the disable DRL procedure for free.

i dont think it'll be a big deal a lot of GMCs have auto lights the cops cant expect everyone to dim their lights with this being standard on a lot of cars just point to the sensor to prove your not trying to be a jack ass if you get in trouble sue!!

Dude if you want to control your lighting system all you have to do is turn off the car, then bring down the emergency brake, and then you bring the lever up one click only and then start the car, dont touch the emergency lever any more and you will see that now you can turn off turn the fog lights on and off.
