Hi, my car had been pretty boggy lately so I replaced the spark plugs with iridium plugs and looked on the forum to see what else I could do. I saw a very good step by step post with pictures of how to clean throttle body and MAF so I decided to take this saturday and do that. I followed the post exactly and used crc throttle body cleaner for throttle body and MAF cleaner for the MAF. I put everything back on and started her up and for some reason my car is idling very high with rpms. About 2000 rpms at park and it will also rev up and down while in park. And now it seems to be going into reverse kind of hard. I'm not driving it until i figure out what I have done wrong.

Hey guys, so I came back to it today with a fresh mind this morning since I was working on it after being up for a good 20 hours and within 5 minutes a saw something I missed. The wire that runs on this u shaped thing that closes and opens the butterfly valve was not on the track correctly. I believe I must of accidentally knocked it off track when I was cleaning it and I just didnt notice. Lol well I put it back on track, took the battery neg off for 30 mins and put it back on and the car is idling great now! I guess I will just have to wait and see if that was it or if it is going to go back to what it was doing.

I have rough idling when first starting the car. I drive it for a while and the idling goes below 1000 rpms during park. I turn it off, and back on again, and idling is below 1000 rpms.

And that part that connects to the "do not open" box, is missing from my car. I don't remember if it came with the car when I got it. Any idea where I can get another, anyone?

The part you said was missing from your car is OK to go without. This is common especially if you have an SRi or CAI. The top is usually just snapped in to the front of the box, and the bottom is left hanging, open and unattached to anything.

Its basically a duct that allows air flow through the electrical parts inside the electrical component box.

Also, it is normal for your car to idle lower than 1k when the car is hot or the air in/around your engine is hot (summer temps). And conversely, it's also normal for your engine to idle a bit over 1k when it's cold or the air is cold (winter temps).
