went into a local auto shop and asked for lift supports for my GTS, and they said they'd be ready in the morning. i get there and they said their computer only went up to the 99 model, same story everywhere else i go in town. so i call the dealership and it's something like $250 for the pair. i can't afford that. so where can you find lift supports for the hatch for 00+ celicas?

Yeah, I did the same quest a while back. The best I could come up with besides speinding the money, was the guy at the autoparts store said to bring in one of the shocks and see if he could match one up. So for now, I'm using a rod to hold mine up. Thats getting old, and embarassing.

Yeah man no shit. Mine are all shot-up too! I took my spoiler off and the hatch stays up without support. Pisses me off...

I'd reccomend going with the c2 trunk shocks. They're cheaper than OEM, and with your TRD wing it'll perform better. I think there is a Group Buy going on somewhere for them.

Yeah, if you have the link, please post it. I'm sick of putting up the 'ol rod everytime I have to get in the trunk.

mine are screwed and on one side the bolt is kinda stripped so its out of alignment. doesn't look bad or anything but it is noticeable.

Ok, I know it's 9 years past the original date... but I just swapped mine out and I'd like to offer the pearls of wisdom I learned today. First off, I ordered StrongArm 6191R Toyota Celica, Hatch (R) Large Spoiler Lift Support and then 6191L for the other side. Now, the fun part... was using a 10mm socket to get the nuts off on the car. Then I used a 12mm wrench to try and get the ball off on the hatch. Now, make sure you've got the hatch propped or a buddy holding it. But, do NOT leave it on the little tab that holds the string for the ledge. I had a 2x4 at an angle and it broke off... so now I have another thing to fix. But, after I've managed to get these on I'm soooo happy with them, makes me wish I did it sooner. They now just automatically lift up after 6 inches, it's great and only $60 for the pair. I highly recommend them.

Do you have a link for this? I’m on my 4th pair of lift gate shocks with this heavy a$$ TRD spoiler. I saw the other guy said he took his off… DUH!! I never thought about that 🙄
