I created this thread for two reasons:

1) After 9 months of waiting I finally received the TRD Fuel Door from TRD Source [trdsource.com]. They (Claremont Toyota) don't even sell this product anymore so nobody has to experience my pain again.

2) I've never seen too many pictures of this product and I thought a number of people might appreciate some good pics. This item has not been installed on my car yet and won't be for a few more months. The winter is super harsh here so the door will go on in time for the next show season thumbsup

I paid $220 for this (which was a good price to begin with) so it's not cheap but consider it an investment in a unique part. This is a show piece...nobody is forcing you to shell out $200 for it but it's a quality piece and if you like the look, pick one up thumbsup

To install you will need to

- Drill out the two existing rivets on the hinge of your existing Fuel Door
- Use a rivet-gun to secure the new TRD Fuel Door using the two supplied rivets

The silver fuel cap is not aluminum. It's a piece of silver plastic that attaches on top of your existing fuel cap with adhesives.

That's about it!

There are a number of TRD Depts. at Toyota Dealerships that apparently still ship this item. Before purchasing, ask if the item is IN STOCK and ready to ship. If it's not, I believe it's typically a 3 month wait. How I had to wait 9 months confused but whatev.

KARACING, I believe, has a few in stock...TRD Fuel Door Sale

Nice. I like those, but don't feel they're worth the $200+ price tag. Hombre, where'd you get the Carbon Fiber part?

Is that the only color it comes in? Or can I get one with red tint?

That's the only color it comes in. However, using red vinyl I'm sure you could tint the clear window or the whole piece without too much difficulty. That's a good idea thumbsup

damn that does look nice, but it sucks that it costs $200+ for a such a useless peice. don't get me wrong, i like it and i would like to have one but shelling out $200 for just show seems kinda over the top for me. if i run into some money i'll probably get one. thanks for the heads up stephenm, i didn't know that the silver cap was just a cover. that really sucks cause now i really don't think its worth it. toyota put ridiculous prices on pieces of plastic, for the moeny they're asking it shoulda been a full replacement piece, aluminum or not.

I agree on the cap as well. I wonder if you could modify an aluminum TRD oil cap to a gas cap cover or something confused

nah, i don't think it's worth the effort, its just that toyota is cheap but wants a high quality price for their products. usually TRD USA sucks, but TRD japan should have more honor than that.
