I am thinking of vinyl wrapping my entire car (diy) in the near future since a paint job is out of my budget. My hood is first up and then the rest of my car later. What I need to know is, how much wrap would I need for my entire car? Rolls, length, etc. Also, does anyone know where I can buy good quality, low cost wrap in Central Florida? One more thing, what's the best prep for wrap if my original paint is faded and peeling?

amazon is about the cheapest you're going to get, but youre not going to get sheets big enough for each panel so youre going to have ti line up or overlap several layers. its going to look aweful unless you have a seriously steady hand, time and patience. prep, just wash and dry.

Call their offices and ask them whats involved and the pros/cons of wrapping your daily driver vehicle. Also ask your car insurance company what they offer in way of vehicle body protections they offer -- do you primarily park in the sun or is your vehicle garaged? What about graphic-chipping due to heat or road salt or freezing snow. How resistant to mold is the wrap material that will be used.

If you choose to do the install yourself, be prepared with the right tools; air drier, towels, plastic vinyl scraper, in a well-lit climate contained room (garage with door closed) and an extra set of hands and eyes for getting perfect alignment.

slightly related: If you've ever removed a "car bra" from a vehicle after its been in place for several years, you'll know the pain of what a bit of trapped moisture will do to a vehicle's paint.
