Celica Forums General Discussion General What engines will fit in a Toyota Celica 2000 GT

If anyone has a list of engines that will fit in this model, it would be much appreciated.

engines that would fit iclude the 1zz-fe, 2zzfe, 3s-gte, for sure, unless youre putting the 1zz back in, youll need transmissions to fit the engine you choose. ive heard that just about any toyota 1.8 4cyl will fit, and they probably will, but then you need to worry about if the transmission, ecu, wiring harness will line up. and keep in mind that the 1zz's that are put in our celi's have lighter, smoother rods bearings and shafts that the ohers dont, so if you put another toyota 1.8 in it youll be loosing some power.

And for the love of god, do yourself a favor and (if youre swapping) take 1,000,000 pictures of sensors, wires and hoses.

no problem. ive also heard another user her put a 2008 camry engine in his and gets like 48-51 mpg and hasnt complained about power so that may be something to look into as well. happy swapping.

Same scenario for a 2001GT? I have a 2002 GTS and would like to put the engine/tranny in the 01.

You would have to use the computer from the gts. But it's doable
