Hi I'm kinda at a standstill till I get further info. I was driving at 190 for a good 7 mins (late for work wasn't racing) and when I slowed down I had a slight knock. By the time I got to work it sounded like something was about to burst through the bottom of the engine. There was a really loud metal grinding sound combined with a solid metal drum beat and a loss of horsepower. I originally just wrote it off as I needed a new engine. But I never lost any oil. It still starts and drives as long as my foots on the gas. So I'm thinking it might be salvageable. If not though I was wondering where's the best place to get a good quality 2zz engine? Monkeywrench?

Thanks

I have the save problem right now, happened to me last month, excpet im pretty sure the computer cought on to something being wrong inside my motor and shut the car off. Im afraid to try starting it and running it. all that i have picked up from what happen is that its a spun bearing, or a throw/broken rod or both. so could be needing a rebuild if lucky, or most likely a new/different engine.

Hey guys/gals,

Based on paleryx's description, I would say you pretty lost an entire rod/piston and a new engine is definitely suggested. Depending on what you plan on doing with the vehicle, I would look at either picking up a used engine from junk yard or on the Lotustalk.com forums (lotus guys sell their engines with less than 50k on them for about $1k -$2k in price). You can go with MWR or you can go with an engine from BOE Fabrications which builds race motors for lotuses and are in my opinion the best ultimate choice (their prices match as well though, sadly).

Hope that helps you out.

As for Superica77, yours is harder as it could be as simple as just a sensor is out. So until you can pull codes, it is hard to say what is wrong with it.
