Hey all,

I exchanged the stereo (or want to) and pulled out the JVC that is in the car, disconnected the splitter cable, attached them to my Sony (which is in my Hyundai Coupe).. and the Sony does not want to turn on at all. There are a lot of cables behind the harness and I am not knowledgeable on this matter. Does anyone has any idea or a wiring diagram for a 1990 ST185?

Regards,

Red

I can't find Sony's diagram for their stereos at this moment but I would also check to make sure
you didn't blow the fuse. I have done it several time installing stereos. If a wire accidentally
touched a wrong wire it could have blown your fuse.

I mainly installed Pioneer stereos but it doesn't look like there is much if any change between what I remember for the stereo half of the wiring diagram.

@Zaon_Prime Thank you for the information!!

When I put either stereo back into the original cars, they work, so no fuses are out. But I noticed that all the cables (that run from the adapter splitter cable) have been cut and rewired to white cables. It looks like I will have to trace them and see what goes where. I even found a second antenna cable, several plugs, and other lose wires behind the harness. Lose wires every where in car, even engine bay... This will be a time consuming job, but I want to do it myself so I can learn as much as possible.
