So I have a 2003 Celica GTS with a stock JBL stereo/radio system. The volume knob hasn't been working and I think it just needs to be cleaned underneath because the rest of the radio works. I thought the knob would just pull right off but even with pliers and some force it wouldn't. I'm afraid I'll either rip the stereo out of the dash or break something because I already put some scratches in the knob frown

Can someone please tell me if the knob is supposed to just pull off or if it is held in with clips/screws and the whole stereo face has to be removed? I can't find anything online and I need my music!!

The GTS has Toyota radio and CD player in it.

Normally the volume knob would just slide right out with finger pressure.

You may have to take the panels around the shift stick, then 2 screws to release the radio. You should spray contact cleaner into the shaft behind the knob, then blow it dry to remove any dirt in the potentiometer. That may work.

If that does not work, the potentiometer or the radio may be burned out. It may be easier to buy a radio in eBay then replace it.
