Hi guys
I'm hoping someone can help me. I've attached a backup camera to my android head unit. I intend to install the camera near the number plate lights on the tailgate handle. I've run the cables through the interior trim to the boot/trunk. I've managed to get the power cables down to the reverse lights, so far so good. Two problems:
1: I can't get the tailgate handle trim off (the piece of plastic which says Celica on it). I've undone four bolts which has loosened it. There are two remaining bolts on either side of the handle. I've gotten a socket onto them and it feels like it's gripping but they don't come off. I suspect they are just turning in place, i.e. whatever they're attached too must be loose and turning with the bolts. I can't see what that might be though.
2: I've fed the camera wires from the front, through the headlining and through the rubber grommet that had the other wires from the car harness. From there I'd intended to run them through the side of the boot/trunk lid where the other wires run. They won't go down though. I suspect that Toyota installed the existing wires before installing the window glass and there are bits of foam and clasps etc in there. Then they put the glass in and sealed the lot in there. Any ideas on how I can get the wires down to my number plate without having them visible?
Many thanks to anyone who helps
Chris
