I think i may have blown a rod but am not entirely sure. The engine will still start but it still has the knocking noise and it runs terribly. Does anyone have any insight on this to confirm if im actually screwed or not? I Have a 2000 Gt auto.

Did you check oil level after the knocking started? That 1ZZ in the 2000-2002 GT is notorious for burning oil and I've heard of plenty of them failing due to low oil levels.

I did it was extremely low so I added a few quarts. I would have to keep adding oil every 50-75 miles or so I replaced the filter and it still continued.

From the sounds of it, the engine ran dry on oil and maybe bent a valve. This is not uncommon for the 1ZZFE in the Corollas, MR2s, Celicas, etc produced between 2000-2003. The oil consumption is a known problem and Toyota addressed it in 2003 with updated piston rings.

How many miles were on the engine by the way?

I ask because if the engine is blown, it'll probably be more practical to just buy a new engine than try to rebuild.

It's not an issue of maintenance for the 1ZZFE, its the piston rings. Chances are that your Celica never had the updated piston rings installed, so it makes sense that the oil consumption got that bad, especially considering mileage.

If you care about that particular car enough, you can always swap the engine. However, it would probably make more sense to scrap it and buy another one, considering how affordable the auto GT's are.

in all honesty id love to do a 2zz swap and also swap to manual instead of finding a new Celica considering this is the only one ive seen around here. I'm just wondering about the cost and how difficult it would be.

The cost is the price of the engine + trans + hardware. That number will vary greatly depending on if you can find those parts locally or if you have to have the shipped. Chances are that if you have to have them shipped, you're paying premium for them. MWR is a great resource for this kind of thing.

This swap kit seems to be a good value if you can't find the parts locally:

That seems a bit steep but I may go that route in time, for now I think the best option may be to just replace the 1zz

Yes, 1ZZ is most affordable and Toyota was throwing them into everything the early 2000's, so you shouldn't have a problem finding one. Even some GM cars have them.
