Celica Forums General Discussion General What’s this sound?

My Celica makes this rattling sound. Mostly when the car is idle either in park, neutral or beginning to reverse. It sounds like it’s coming from muffler but it actually stops rattling once you rev the engine or start driving. If you put the car it park it will stop rattling until engine kicks in a bit and then will start rattling like crazy. I posted some videos at the below links:

Sounds to me like either an exhaust heat shield or exhaust hanger has come detached and is just tapping away. Nothing major to be concerned about, won't effect performance. Will just annoy you until it's fixed. This is something you can probably fix yourself once you get under the car and see what's really doing it. Or a good exhaust shop shouldn't charge you much.
