I just bought a 2002 Celica GT(a car I wanted in 2002 but what's 17 years?) with 123K miles. I am wondering what gas I should use to keep it happy?
Any help would be appreciated.

Hey, welcome!

If it's a US spec GT with the 1ZZFE, regular 87 octane or your local equivalent should be fine. You could put in a higher octane but it isn't really necessary.

To add on this, 87 is fine I use 94, I notice a difference in the torque curve with it. Though conventional use 87 is just fine though do be weary that knock can still occur, its not often but it can, its really up to you in the end though. I still prefer the higher octane grade to reduce chances of know since the higher the octane the less chance of pre-ignition occurring.

from all my experience and reading, I just DONT think you have any concerns about spark knock/detonation with this engine. Its nota high compression when NEW, and its certainly LOWER now with many many miles on the rings/valve train. Sometimes the mind CAN play tricks on how we interpret things............
