Hi,i have a celica GT and recently, it started burning a lot of oil (1 quarts for every 15-20 miles) and i can see a lot of white smoke coming from the exhaust... does it sound like a blown head gasket? or what else can it be?

also, should i just send it to a scrapyard and buy another one?

Hello, Welcome to the forum.

That is way to excessive of an oil burn issue. Not sure which year you have Celica GT's in the early 2000's do burn quite a bit of oil.
Your car is at least about 14-15 years old and as these cars age its going to need seals/gaskets/parts replaced and maintenance'd.
I am not sure how much you love your Celica but that majority of oil burning issues arose from improper size of the piston rings.
I would suggest getting all the gaskets redone (oil pan, head gasket, valve cover gasket, etc), and getting a new PCV valve to try and alleviate the the oil burning at the least.
If you absolutely love your car you may just want to get get the engine rebuilt, or swapping the engine out with another one. Though
be aware of the engine your swapping as it could also have issues. Even buying another Celica you may still end up in a few years
having a similar problem just because they are aging.

That sounds pretty doom and gloom, but I did swap my Celica's engine for a 1ZZ-FE engine that burns less oil then the previous engine.
You could try using a slightly thicker oil, definitely change out your PCV Valve if you haven't in the last year or so.

I do believe the Celica GTS's didn't have the bad oil burning issues, and 2003 GT's had the issue addressed with the right piston rings.
I don't know the year of yours, but just throwing that out there.

If you do become dead set on getting rid of it, there and many people including myself looking for a good shape project car, I dislike seeing beautiful cars go to the junk yard. If push came to shove I would say try putting it up for sale with the known issues and see what happens before sending it the grave yard.
