Celica Forums General Discussion General Advise on improving performance on my 1999 Celica ST

Hello everyone,

Im new to this forum and would really appreciate someones advise. I own a stock 1999 Toyoya Celica ST (80,000 miles) and thinking of upgading components to increase BHP.

My first thought is engine since thats the most common way to make it faster. But unsure on what engine is compatible and which engine is best bang for the buck (as they say lol). Would a GT4 engine be a big upgrade? Im not wanting 700 BHP or anything, something around 250+ would be ideal. And what turbo would be needed?

What else could i change to achive this? Id like new brakes / tyres / exhaust .

In terms of budget, Im not made of money and could only afford maybe £200 to spend each month as money is tight. Unless i saved up for few months to then spash on components.

Maybe go to a scrap yard and buy a cheap celica for parts potentially?
