Hello everyone,

I recently picked up a 2001 red celica GTS with 168,000km on her from a friend of mine for basically nothing and overall the car is in pretty good shape, other than the fading/peeling red paint and a little bit of rust. None the less I recently brought the car to a bodyshop that another friend of mine owns.

So:
Kind of locally (few hours away) there is someone who has a Magnaflow axleback 15730 off of a celica GT (I do know from reading many threads that this exhaust diameter is 2.25" and the GTS is 2.5")

My question is are the flange size's different between the GT & GTS? Has anyone mounted a GT axleback to their GTS?

I have come across many threads of it the opposite way around, people putting GTS exhaust's on their GT. I do not believe the minor diameter difference would cause any harm, I would like to make sure that it will indeed fit in place, use the same hangers and mount to the original flange. If it boils down to it, I can cut the flange of and well directly.

Welcome, getcarter

The "Front Exhaust Pipe" and "Rear Muffler" are both different for the GT and GT-S. The piping angles are different due to the slight Exhaust Manifold differences in the GT (VVT-i) and GTS (VVTL-i) engines. These two systems also have different hanger locations. And if IIRC, the stock canisters are also sized/positioned slightly different.

I have seen the exhaust TIP being swapped out from a TRD system to install on their current stock GT/GTS/custom system, which adds nothing but "rice-power."

I appreciate the reply!

In that case I will definitely stick with the GTS variant exhausts vs trying to make a GT variant work, sounds like it would be more of a headache over buying the correct one.

I have been hunting for parts for the past month and they are hard to come by, at-least here in good ol Nova Scotia Canada there's few far in between. That GT magnaflow is the only exhaust I can find anywhere.

Ideally I would like to have a TRD exhaust but it seems that those Unicorn's are long gone, to late in the game that they have all been snatched up.

Thanks again smile
