Does anyone know if I can put a Celica gts motor from an automatic donor car into my Manual Celica gt?

be aware, you'll also need the transmission and a bunch of other parts, including electronics and speedo/tach unit

This question has been asked/answered to death over the past 20 years... anything is possible with enough money

MWR don't list a need for a new transmission.

https://www.monkeywrenchracing.com/product/toyota-2zz-ge-engine-celica-swap-package/

I had a 1ZZ-FE with a blown gasket. Purchased a remanufactured 1ZZ-FED which was shipped from Japan and had it installed with no issues regarding prior transmission. It was shipped long block and was basically bolt on.

Don't see how the 2ZZ-GE would be different. Mind enlightening me?

They didn't say they wanted the automatic transmission to get exchanged, just the engine.

If you were talking about trading transmissions between chassis, I'd completely agree. There's a load of electronics there going manual to automatic.

If you're talking flywheel forward, I don't see how. A 2ZZ is a 2ZZ, or am I wrong?

I'm not going to argue with you. I have no doubt that you've done what you said youve done. i read the OP and replied. You also read the OP and replied. Cheers grin

@ nxckmann, In addition to the different engine mounts (and more) required for the GT to GTS conversion, you'll need some new transmission parts to get that GTS working with your GT's current manual transmission parts. On top of that, a bit of exhaust system retooling will be needed. All this, and plenty of electronics, as both brokkr and I had already mentioned.

It's less arguing and more....confusion, I guess.

I've never seen any place that sells engines saying "This is an automatic transmission engine." or 'This is a manual transmission engine for (x) gears."
It's always been my understanding that if the mounting points are the same and you're taking an engine from the same vehicle model (regardless of trim) that it's nearly plug and play.

It's also possible I had less of an issue because the 1ZZ-FED is simply a variant of the 1ZZ-FE. That due to it being shipped long block, I had my FE parts mounted to it and this erased most hiccups.

I agree on the exhaust. Completely. That said, if you step up your exhaust first be aware of the P0125 error code. The engine won't 'heat up' within parameters.

I had the 'brilliant' idea that when my cat got replaced, I'd stage the piping for the exhaust up half an inch. Now it's got to go to a dyno at some point and get the computer reprogrammed.

I too am looking at putting motor from a manual into an auto. All I have found so far is the driveshaft brackets line up differently
