I have a 2004 Celica GT with 160k km. It has been consuming an unusual amount of oil and there has occasionally been noticeable oil smoke coming from my exhaust. I specifically bought an '03+ Celica believing that the oil consumption issues had been resolved, but apparently I am wrong. Has anyone with an '03+ had this issue? Is it faulty piston rings like in the '99 - '02s? Any other thoughts or comments? Thanks

Carbon deposits may plug oil return holes, and get piston oil rings stuck, let oil escape into the combustion chamber. Oil getting pass leaky valves will accumulate and harden into sludge in valve head cavity.

Try dissolving the deposits with MOTOR MEDIC GUNK ($5 Walmart). Try half strength first. Add half bottle in the engine oil, idle engine 10 minutes, dump the oil. Oil may be black and thick like tar. May have to flush a few times to get rid of all deposits. I flush with every oil change. Valve cavity is clean like new, no deposit, no gunk, no sludge . Engine runs noticeably smoother.

Do a compression check before and after flushing to see if it improves.
