So i just recently installed my injen short ram intake. I followed the installation guide and everything and taking off the negative battery terminal first. After I was finished, making sure hose are plugged in correctly and MAF put back in as well as putting the negative battery terminal back on. I started the car and the car started normally but the RPM just drops after a few seconds and the car feels like it's about to turn off. I own a 2002 Toyota Celica GT. Thank you in advance! P.S. I'm not great with mods so apologies for being a car noob.

With any bolt on basically you want to reset ECU since you've installed a different/aftermarket part than your car's ECU was previously configured for -- which was stock parts. Either remove fuse #15 under the hood or just detach the black battery terminal. When you turn on your car with the mod installed, the ECU will learn and re-configure itself for the modification, and youre set to go! thumbsup

It doesn't matter if your CEL comes on or not, if you install a new engine modification to your car, then you should reset the ECU. People who don't reset there ECU right away sometimes don't feel the major difference of the modification or have a rough engine while the ECU adjusts to re-learn.

alright, so I did the ecu reset and the car still felt rough. Do I need to let it sit and idle for awhile? Also i hear a weird noise coming from the intake.

it may take a week or several miles of driving for the ECU to learn. Also the noise will be different than before, obviously youll hear a slight "sucking" noise as air is now passing through an open aluminum tube, rather than passively through a plastic box and a butterfly valve.

Alright, so I just turned on the car today and from what I see, my Celica is starting to learn about the new intake. I let it sit for a bit and then drove around my neighborhood but the only thing is it doesn't accelerate as fast. Is that suppose to be a side effect for just recently installing it? And will it be better the more I drive it?

I would like to thank you for helping me with that problem and now the intake is working as intended. All I had to do was drive several miles as you stated and that did the trick and now my car has recognized the intake. I appreciate you taking your time to help this Mods noob haha.
