Hey guys this is my first post here, I've tried searching online for any solutions to my problem but i can't really find anything. I drive an automatic 1995 Celica GT-S (or just GT, if you live in the States). I bought the car a while back and the guy i bought it from told me it needed a new radiator, along with some other things. I bought a BRAND NEW OEM radiator, and after installing it, noticed trans fluid was leaking from one of the little metal tubes that attaches to the radiator (i'll include a picture of where the leak is coming from). My dad told me the radiator is probably defective and i should've returned it before putting approximately 12.8 billion gallons of jb weld and sealant on it, but i wanted to see if it was something else. maybe i forgot to tighten something before putting it in? idk, any help would be appreciated.

Are you sure its transmission fluid? did you smell it, or are you just going by its color.

TOYOTA Long Life Coolant (TOYOTA LLC) is also red. It is not as thick as transmission fluid, but it is red.

TOYOTA Super Long Life Coolant (TOYOTA SLLC) is pinkish, but can look red when it is used/dirty.

thanks for the reply. yes, i smelled it and it's also too viscous to be coolant. right now i have a pink coolant in my radiator, but the stuff coming out is a dark red, plus it's coming from the cooling line fitting. i've tried using stop leak as well, to no avail thus far. at this point i'm completely stumped and am considering just buying a new radiator.

hey everyone, i originally posted this question on a different section of the website, but i haven't got many replies so here's hoping i'll have more luck here. i've got a 1995 celica GT-S (automatic) that starts and runs perfectly, except for two things: firstly, there's transmission fluid leaking from the metal cooling line right where it meets up with the radiator (brand new OEM radiator, pic included). i've tried tightening the fitting, sealant, jb weld, and stop leak, all to no avail. secondly (and i don't know if these two things are correlated at all), my car seems to jerk a little bit when shifting from park to reverse, reverse to neutral, etc etc. no sound, just a slight jerk of the whole car (not sure if that's normal or if i need a whole new transmission haha). any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

HMMM. If you watch carefully, it might be coming from AROUND the valve OR thru the valve. So remove and seal or exchange ? Good luck.

Is it a transmission cooler ? Part of a dual radiator ?

Transmission fluid runs through the bottom of the radiator for cooling.

If the leaked fluid is vicious and dark red, it's more likely transmission fluid, not coolant. You have a leak somewhere at the bottom of the radiator. Check the 2 lines of transmission fluid going into and out of the radiator. It's possible the connections were not tight.

Transmission jerking means fluid level is low. Check fluid level and add if low.

Jerking on reverse gear may also be caused by a worn front engine mount, which wears out if it gets jerked too many times by a bad transmission.
