Need a little help lately ive been noticing that the acceloration on my car is starting to lag. when i hit the gas it takes a few seconds to kick in. I have CAI and Header and i just had my throttle body and MAS cleaned. I dont know what to do. Anyone have this problem B4 thumbsup

since your car is an auto...then usually it takes awhile for it to kick in on a roll...but from a stop, it should be fine

I never had a problem from a roll acceling before. its not bad but its just annoying, but thanks for the imput thumbsup

Put in some high octane and change the plugs spineyes

i use 93 octane and i was thinking today maybe i should change my spark plugs ive got around 18K miles on the car now thumbsup thanks for the advice

try resetting ur ecu, could be a cold air intake thing, perhaps it needs to readjust confused

ive had it on for a year now and i cleaned the filter about 2 months ago. the ecu was reset when i had it installed. thanks for the advice though thumbsup i'll try that again

CLean your MAFS and reset the ECU. If that doesn't stop the sluggishness, put your stock airbox on and reset the ECU. If that solves the problem, then it's your intake that's causing the problem.

I just had it cleaned about a month ago. and ive had the intake on for a year now, I dont know maybe im just going crazy Ive been in 2 too many foriegn wars spineyes spineyes

If it's not the intake, the only other thing it can be is your first O2 sensor. It'll also make the car read lean if it can't read temperatures properly.

I'd still throw on the stock airbox for a week and check to see if that does anything. It works for almost everyone who has had problems with bogging/sluggish acceleration with their aftermarket intake.

i have the AEM intake, if I might ask blue bomber what causes bogging in an air intake. does that mean the ECU needs to be tuned confused

Well, you can solve the problem either by getting a replacement/piggyback ECU that can reliably alter AF ratios (not Apexi S-AFC), or modify the MAFS' environment like this:

Either way will stop the car from running too lean. Every intake out there except the TPR CAI is poorly designed, which is why you see lots of people out there getting bogging and P0171 CELs from them.

I had this problem too, Toyota was not able to diagnose it.

I changed plugs, higher octane, lower octane, air filter, cleaned the throttle body too. Nothing made a difference.

I found it was kinda "bottoming out" when I first put some gas to it, like it would pause before it gave me anything.

This started happening shortly after my wife took my car to Crappy Tire for an oil change (she now knows this is a bad thing) and they cross threaded my oil plug and it was leaking all over the place.

I don't know if it was related or not (maybe the oil pump??) since my engine has now blown.

it doesnt happen all the time just enough to annoy be, but i will look into the oil pump i hear the celi's have some problems with them thumbsup

try wat everyone else said, also clean the thingy that you had to umplug out of ur airbox, to put in ur cold air intake, you know how you have a lil hole and this thingy just goes in there and you have to screw it in, you know wat im saying clean that maybe that will help

I had the same problem with my 2002 GTS. My MAS measured good electrically but I found out the sensor was dirty.

Either your MAS is dead or you cleaned it wrong.

Spray on residue contact cleaner into the MAS' cavity with the 2 electrodes, also the brown thermistor blob. Let it soak in a few minutes and blow it out with an air tool. That should clean it up.

Drive the car aggressively a week for ECU to learn your driving regime.
