We have a gnarly rattle very briefly (couple seconds in first few seconds) at cold startup. I suspect the intake cam VVT sprocket.

1. What's the best way to determine the source, can sprocket VS the timing chain tensioner (Suspect #2)?
2. Think best to replace the tensioner first as it is relatively easy and inexpensive?
If the sprocket needs replacing:
1. Typical/fair repair cost at a shop?
2. Any recommendations on Wisconsin shop?
3. Likelihood this is a repair I can do in my garage? I'm not afraid if R&R jobs generally but this is pretty deep!

Thanks for the help!
