Hi guys
I have Celica 2003 vvti
From the beginning of the last week I noticed, when coming back from work, that my OPEN DOOR warning light has been flickering while i was driving. All doors were shut, boot also. So after doing a small
Investigation I found out that it might be tailgate lock sensor. But, in the area where I live, finding a tailgate lock is not that easy, especially one with working sensor ( I’ve ordered one tailgate lock and it came corroded and sensor plug pin was completely gone. Is there any way to find out if it’s tailgate lock sensor causing this problem? Couple days ago, when I opened boot and was locking and unlocking it with screwdriver the open door light was goin on and off. Even after driving at first, sometimes it was off when I parked so I could use a fob, and sometimes it was constantly on. Right now, it is constantly on, I have to lock it with a key, can’t use fob and I haven’t been using it for two days so it drained my battery.
Is this wire that goes to plug in tailgate lock just earth wire? I’ve tried to use a piece of wire and touch pin in the plug with chassis but that’s not solving a problem. Is there maybe anyway to bypass it?
Also, what seems to be important, whenever I press brake the open door warning light goes off.
Has any of you had problem like this?

Best regards

After what you described it sounds like it might be a wiring issue possibly.

Maybe remove the plastic panel on the inside of the hatch and just inspect the wires and make sure none of the wires have been rubbing on any bare metal causing it to short out.

If it's affected when braking too it might have something to do with the tail lights as well which makes me think it's most likely wiring not the actual hatch lock itself, So it could possibly be an exposed wire 🤷‍♂️

Not overly sure but I hope this helps in anyway :))
