Wondering if anyone else has adjusted their valves. I know that excessive redlining can cause the valves to tap prematurely. It's driving me nuts. Also, would this be under warrenty? I have a 2000 GTS 6speed

that sux. FYI, the car car runs great, nice and smooth, it's just the tapping noise at idle.

I have the same problem...
what kinda tune up makes that go away? I was going to get it all done (tune up, spark plugs, etc) I want to make sure I inslude the valve tapping thing.

from what I've read on this site, you need a SST(special sevice tool) to adjust the valve clearnce. If it's not too hard, i'll do it myself.

is this something I could have done at a local automative repair place? (I'm NOT going to the dealer for this, they fucked up my car enough)

Are you sure that the noise isn't just the fuel injectors? For the longest time, I thought that the 2ZZ engine had super noisy valves until I realized that the ticking noise was the injectors. The injectors on the 2ZZ are really loud, I'm not sure about the 1ZZ though.
