well, my friends' integras are pretty cool, and some can tune the timing just right to get insane hp increases...is there a way to do that to ours or is it all ecu work :-/

I've heard, that our timing is already at its max potential. Thats just what I have heard. The way to advance the timing is electronic work though.

if you advance it too much it will fuck up your engine. any time you advance timing you're shortening your engine life.

Well i knew that, but just tweeking timing will give you very good gains compared to the amount of life you are losing. if it is at the highest point like dan says, then yea i guess we cant change it for the better(?)

On my old teg it was as simple as moving the distributor back or forth. But we don't have one. It was very easy to jack up things though, so I ended up putting it back & getting cam gears. The change was not that great. The dc sports header gave me the biggest simple mod gain.

the timing on the celica has to be advanced by the ecu,as for it being at max, well, i dont think so!remember that the manufacturer has to leave a wide enough safty margin with the spark timing in case of varying engine conditions. extreme temperaturs, bad gas, massive vacuam leaks, climbing hills at high altitudes... and the list goes on.what i do know is that toyatas love timing! with the 6th gen celica, you can have a cold air intake, exhaust, fuel regulator,(bump preasure up 5 to 7 psi) and advance timing from 10degrees to 13 degrees and you would be surprise at what that 5sfe can do!unfortunatly cant be done with the 7th gen.ps: its always good to add a little more fuel when advancing timing or get a higher octane fuel to help fend off detonation.
HYBRID:resulting from the combination of two or more mechanically dissimilar origins! "...... code":every man is a shadow, let him be treated as such, until proven otherwise by a show of character or code!
