Yes, "Lift" will not work until the car is warmed up. It's kind of a safty feature for the engine...not to rev it up while it's cold.

all variable valve timing systems require the engine to be at a nice warm temperature. vvtl, vvtl-i, vtec, etc. like street said, its a safety system.

your lift bolts might be broken too if it doesnt work when the car is warm.

Ok this is like the 3rd post in the last month or two on this.

Am I the only person does not understand why you would want to drive around on a car that isn't warmed up? Especially the high rpm driving that it requires to hit lift? I don't understand why anybody would want to do this to their car.

yea i used to wait until the temp needle went up one notch before i started moving. but now i just wait a while and then get going but taking it easy until the temp needle starts going up.

Exactly very very few times do I ever leave before it moved up one notch. If I'm in a hurry I let it warm up for at least a little then I move and I never take the rpm past 3k.

I just understand the reasoning behind hitting 6000+ rpm on a car that is still cold. Plain and simple it's just not a good thing to do to your car.
