i know the gts has more horsepower stock, but ive been hearing bad things about it (can't support aturbo,etc)also, the hotshot headers are for the gt only. so i ask, which is the better deal?

Depends... are you ever going to turbo..>? if so when will you have the cash... if in a long time you wont see a turbo go gts if not and you wanna turbo it quick go gt... all i can say is i love lift... and im not gettin a turbo yet... and when i do have the cash... i wanna be the first turboed GTS so who knows... just a dream

You can turbo a gts, but if you want to boost more than like 5 psi, than you're gonna have to work on your engine a lot, lower the compression or you're gonna blow your engine. As for the headers, there are other companys that make headers for the gts. Gts has the vvtl-i technologie wich is pretty good, giving you the "feeling" of a turbo.
What other bad thing have you heard about the gts ?
If you are going to add a turbo to a celica, go with a GT because to add turbo on GTS and really want big HP you will have to spend big bucks. With GTS you need to build bottom end of the engine which cost you way above $3,000, then add cost of a turbo (maybe by then there will be a kit which would be around $3,500+) when you go above 5psi you will also need more fuel in the engine which means whole fuel system which cost around $700. Lets say whole thing is going to cost you about $7,000 to get high boost for GTS, a GT all you need is turbo kit and the fuel system and you can go 10psi which means alittle over $4,000.
if i stick with the gts, what'd be the best way to get as much hp as possible? gonna get exhaust, headers, cai, and pulleys. is there anything im missing?

it may sux to spend about 3grand more on the gts..but if so you did replaced the block, etc...wouldn't it have more hp than a GT with the same turbo kit?
Right now there is no kit, but West Covina Toyota David Draper kit is coming soon. That kit is well thought out, got a lot of imputs from people who knows what they are doing. Thats the only kit I would recommand when it comes out.
For a GTS you can add a better header, Cold Air Intake, Lightened Flywheel, piggyback unit to get more out of the engine (this is the piece that cost the most), and ofcourse stickier tires.
If you boost a GTS to 5 psi you get around 200HP (Blitz dyno shows this) and this is about the limit of the boost GTS can handle. I am at 7.1psi with room to go and I am already at 223.1 HP SAE and 198lbs of torque. Without modifying engine GT can handle more than a GTS.
This is definition for who is wondering what I am talking about. Let me define kit, it is off the shelf bring it to a shop and have it installed which I do not have. I have a custom setup.
to increase the psi you need boost controller. To understand what it does you first must understand what turbo is. Turbo is pretty much forcing more air to the engine thus more O2 run harder, now if you have too much boost and your engine internals are weak it can blow your engine. So to regulate that you have something called Wastgate, it regulates the boost to a set psi. More psi more horsepower, usually around 10HP per psi but once you go high boost it becomes larger. Now when you buy a kit they usually give 5psi setting wastgate for the GTS and 6psi for GT. Now to increase psi you need boost controller it taps into the hose that sends pressure readings to wastgate, and that boost controller will release some of that pressure to "lie" to wastgate telling wastgate the set psi has not been reached but in actuality we are way past it. GTS can handle at most 6psi (if lucky) and GT is 10psi. Now for a GTS to withstand more psi you need to build up bottom end of the engine and thats replacing a lot of parts in the engine which run about $3000+
