My car is messed up. when i hit the gas the RPM's go down and it takes a minute to get enough power to go... so i was telling a buddy of mine about this, and he said his car did the same thing and it was the fuel filter. now i have a question... where do i buy one? is it hard to replace?
I tried to change the fuel filter in my 00 gt celica, and the mechanic said that its located inside the gas tank and its hard and very expensive to replace, and if you are not sure that that's the problem, you shouldn't do it.
How much miles are on your car? Under warranty or scheduled check, take it to the dealer and express your concerns over the fine automobile that you are driving. Nobody here can say for sure what is wrong, nor can the dealers. But at least they can check right or wrong and fix right or wrong (under warranty). Just go to your dealership and let all of us know your outcome.
I knew this girl who bought a pre-owned Camry and the dealership needed to replace her fuel filter/charcoal filter. She said it would cost like $600. She fought because it's certified and only payed like $50 to $100 dollars. I wish I had that kind of MOXIE!
When I had a tune up done on my GTS the mechanic told me that the fuel filter was a non servicable item on our cars. Has anyone else been told this? He said that the Toyota dealership told him this when he tried to get the filter.
not something the average joe can do in his own garage... the fuel filter is indeed inside the gas tank... i can't imagine what kinda work/mess is involved in trying to do this yourself...
