i would sugest cleaning once a year. each filter has a cleaning kit, the K&n filters have the recharger kit, Aem has one. most likey you can find them at any pep boys, auto zone or kragen.

From... https://celicahobby.com/ubbthreads/showflat.php?Number=199635... They only need to be cleaned when they are dirty... i live in SoCalifornia - so I need to clean mine every 3 to 5 months... some people might live in Vancouver and those need to clean less often its a good rule-of-thumb to clean something when it gets dirty... the cleaning kits cost about $10 from your local Pepboys/Track Auto/Chief/Autozone and can be used for more than once

just remember with the k&n filters, they work better when they are dirty. when they are really dirty, thats when you can clean them.
