Hey fellow celis I usually dont post because all my ?'s are normall answered on here already just by looking for them. Anyhow how heres the deal I rescently just had the stafford fabrication turbo kit put in my 03 celi which by the way is off the hook total price with install was 3,850 including a discount from being military... alright now with my ? I was putting in my new boost gauge last night and spliced it right in with my radio so the light is only on when the radio is on and such right. well got everything hooked up and looked sweet nice blue backlight cd player, and blue turbo timer, and blue boost gauge was looking sweet. alright well about 10 seconds later the stereo quits playing the boost gauge goes off and I was like waht the hell... so i was like must of blown a fuse.. checked every damn fuse in the car all like 50 of them, nothing.. now the funny thing is that my clock, the gauge, and now my stereo have no lights nothing at all.. but however the stereo is able to respond to commands like ejecting the cd, opening the motorized face plate, and so forth, but no lights.. anyone that even remotely tell me what to do... i went through with a tester on every wire they are all perfectly good, checked all fuses, and even unhooked the gauge still nothing... thanks and sorry for the novel up there.. thanks.. any responses can be posted on here but if you can e=mail me directly shoot it to lover_fool@hotmail.com

did you smell any burning, you should have. if you wanted the lighting to go on and off, you should have hard wired it to battery. did you splice into the wiring harness in the back of the radio. if you did, that is bad.

glad someone answered me thanks guys.. to answer some more detailed ?'s yes the 03 kit is out for the celi i am boosting at 10 natural psi and gained an extra 2 just from increasing my down pipe by an inch all the way back so i digimoto dyno'd at 324.6 to the crank just had an 8 percent LSD installed and a lightning flywheel cut off about 55 pounds .. will soon be posting pics and races on it.. have 5 under my belt so far (turbo'd mazda protege, supra (best friend) neon srt 4, and 2 crappy civics with a cheap turbo kit on there.. ok anyways back to the original topic, i did splice right into the wiring harness for the radio, I know i should have done the hard wired switch thing but the radio idea just sounded neat.. i have worked with imports at my dads shop (which by the way for celi peeps only I hook most people up with whole sale car audio and video..) and never experience this before in my life I've wired all kinds of things to the hot wire of the radio switches, gauges, underbody lights, and its just kind of trippin me out I am thinking of throwing the stock radio in there and taking it to toyota seeing how I have NO warranty anymore at all since the turbo went in.. any more help would be greatly appreciated .. also why was it such a bad idea to wire to the radio thanks guys... appreciate it

the dyno isn't like a dyno from the shop or what not its a "self-mad" "digimoto" dyno tool it plugs into your laptop out in the car VIA the ODBII sensor and gives you on the fly dyno, torque, Air fuel ratio, compressions sensing, boost control, boost gauge read out, and 1/4 mile time VIA the ECU harness you need to have that option of the program .. i am working on getting everything completely finished with the programming a friend and I are workingon it.. as soon as I do I will put the program on here for anyone who has a laptop and wants to run there exact tests on there car turbo'd or not.. I am not sure of the price but it will include a CD thorough instructions on where to wire all necessary components, and all that good stuff.. but I might be able to do a Capture Screen option on the laptop and copy the screen on here..its a lot of power guys.. i strongly suggest everyone go to the world of the turbo its highly addicting.. lol... take it easy guys

When I had my CD player installed, the shop that did it shorted something out because my AC/Heat control lights and my clock are both out. Let me know how to fix this because it sounds like a similar problem. Good luck.

People have told me it was a grounding issue. I'd go w/ that, I suppose. If not, you gotta pay someone to figure it out. Again, good luck.

Here is the answer to your dilemma...
It's one of the 7.5 amp fuses directly below the big burgundy relay in the pic. I went through headaches too until I took a good look at these fuses. They have about 8 little legs on them. Look at them very closely...U will see that one small part of it will be blown. Wire your gauge to the battery and throw a switch on it. Gonna have to go straight to a Toyota dealer for this fuse. About $6.
This should fix your problem. Let me know. thumbsup

Lets stay on topic guys. If you want to talk about the turbo, then make another thread or take care of it in PMs.

To help you out guy, my best suggestion is to make sure the wires you spliced in, are not touching anything else (other wires, or a ground). Also, Make sure you recheck the fuses, and it couldn't hurt to replace the radio fuse just to make sure.
If that doesn't work, take the gauge off of your radio wire, wire it somewhere else, replace the fuse again, and hope for the best.

But it sounds like maybe you have two wires touching/grounded or a blown fuse.

Good luck

hey man I really appreciate that ... I will head to the dealership as soon as possible.. also to clarify all about the tubo I HAVE A GT the GTS has not been able to turbo for 2 reasons the fuel system cant handle a turbo for some reason and also the compression of the pistons is a 3 part compression 11:5:1 which makes it very difficult to install a turbo or a supercharger do to the fact the car will basically a detinate and you'll have 4 cylinder holes in your hood from where you shot out all 4 pistons... so to clarify there are 2 turbo systems for the gt (compression is 10:1) I havn't found anyone that has a piston for our engine any lower but i am boosting at 12 psi and loving it just the same.. keep it the way it is.. also been running for almost 2 months now kinda hard on it lately but no CEL and no problems everything is so gravy.. love it.. thanks man again for the FUSE HELP I SERIOULSY CHECKED EVERYONE.. I will do it again tommorow

I know that this is off topic, but since you have already been helped with your fuse problem I figured I would let you know that Weisco makes lower compression pistons for the 1ZZ GT engine. They lower the compression from 10:1 down to 8.8:1, you can order them from MonkeyWrench...

Also, just FYI, you can turbo a GTS. It is difficult because of the non-returnable fuel system and high compression, but there are a still a few sucessful kits for the GTS that make a lot of power. Stafford is working on a GTS kit right now that gets around the fuel system.

do you HAVE to go to Toyota for the fuse?

Going to my dealer is a pain in the ass frown

yeah I knew they had a turbo for the GTS it was just very rare.. thats awesome hes got one coming out. mike is the man.. got to know him on a really personal level good guy.. hey thanks for that piston info also by the way I am going to check into that.. there is a problem though with a turbo if you lower your compression rate you get more off the line but your top end suffers dramatically just a lil FYI also.. hey do appreciate though.. soon to have all my pics up guys.. I think you will likey haha.. take it easy guys..

7.5 fuses are next on my list. It would be nice to see my buttons again. But, just like Shaun said, I checked and re-checked every fuse, and none were blown. I will have to try again, though. Hopefully my problem is as easy as his to fix. Then I'd feel like a dumbass for not having A/C lights for the past year and a half. Sheesh.
